Men and women are both at risk for genital yeast infections. The most common type of yeast infection is that of a fungus called candida, which occurs in the vagina. It is passed to men during unprotected sexual encounters. Candida symptoms in women include pain during sex, itching and swelling in and around the vagina, as well as a lumpy white discharge.
