What is sexual repression?

Sexual repression refers to deep-seated negative feelings about the very idea of a sexual encounter. It is further described that it occurs when a person prevents himself or herself from feeling natural sexual urges and desires. Common behaviours of people who are sexually repressed include shame and distress associated with anything sexual, such as fantasies, and guilt, especially after a sexual encounter.
