About Doxycycline
Doxycycline is a type of antibiotic which is often prescribed for severe cases of acne. In addition to being a powerful antibiotic, it also acts as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) similar to antidepressants. Acne medication is usually given to teenagers who have reached puberty and developed skin problems. While the meds help, they might carry over into the early 20s, before significant healing is attained. Unfortunately, these meds come with side effects, some of which may be quite severe.
