Why is Oxytocin known as the love hormone?

The Love Hormone - Oxytocin

Oxytocin is released in males and females during skin to skin contact, sexual arousal, orgasm and ejaculation. It is also released in large amounts during childbirth and breastfeeding. Studies have shown that oxytocin plays a role in bonding, sexual desire, social contacts, and good feelings towards others.

Research has also suggested that oxytocin is associated with the ability to control stressful emotional matters in close relationships.
