Present day approaches to psychotherapy for PE focus on control of ejaculation by learning new techniques such as reducing anxiety, restoring confidence, and promoting better communication between couples.

Many men with PE hassles, also have problems with anxiety, which often manifests itself as performance anxiety, because of previous embarrassing episodes of premature ejaculation, and can lead to man totally avoiding sexual encounters.
